Songphon Kueawitha, nicknamed Ter, is a businessman and philanthropist. Ter was born and grew up in Thailand but now lives in England, where he obtained his university education and married his partner. He remains a frequent visitor to Thailand. Ter's partner suffers from Parkinson's disease, and this has made him aware of how difficult it can be to travel abroad with someone suffering from that condition without help.
When his mother was alive, she suffered from cancer, and he was very impressed at the treatment his mother received at a private Thai hospital. Given the difficulties people in some countries have in accessing public healthcare on a timely basis, and that the expense of private treatment in the West can sometimes be prohibitively expensive, Ter has expanded his businesses interests to include Medical Tourism to Thailand.
Thailand is well-known as a tourist destination, but what often goes unrecognised is that it also has a number of first-class private hospitals. In order to enable people from Western countries to access first-class medical care in Thailand, Ter has formed an association with the prestigious Phyathai2 International Hospital in Bangkok with the aim of promoting Medical Tourism in Thailand to the overseas community.
